Christmas Gift Giving...

My niece is a BIG fan of turtles...I found a tin sea turtle wall sculpture at Pier One....When I started it was just plain tin...old looking and weathered....Using several colors of metallic paint I transformed it into a sea turtle with life....I originally thought that she could put this out by her pool...but she loves it so much she has decided to place it on the bathroom wall....I had a great deal of fun...reminds me of the turtle from FINDING NEMO!!

A "tote" collaboration....

My sister and I collaborated on the making of this tote bag! I wanted to be able to carry a mandala affirmation with me at all times...a reminder of sorts...(From the Inside Out) but I do not sew!! I am fortunate to have a sister that does however...(we each have our talents!!) So, I painted my affirmation...and my sister made it into a tote bag!! I am loving this....and think that it just might be some of the finest work the two of us have done together...So in this case TWO HEADS ARE BETTER THAN ONE!!

I have 2 separate pieces in Altered Couture...a jean jacket and a how to give your shoes a new soul article. In Art Doll Quarterly I have canvas Santa's that I have been making as gifts now for years. Once again I am ever so happy to share my art with all...

WORKING ON IT!!!

These are some GIRLS I have been working on....I am taking an online class with the FABULOUS and GENEROUS Suzi Blu...If you have ever wanted to learn how to make the faces she is so FAMOUS for...it is well worth the small amount she charges!! Anyhow, these girls are made out of canvas and then pieced together like a paper doll....There is more to come as they are not done playing with my MUSE yet!!! I will post them when they are complete..but wanted to show you what I have been UP TO!! This summer has been a bit different for me...I have been traveling every month so that has taken creative time in a different direction...and I am dealing with some home issues that need my attention....but I am creating...I am following my bliss...I just finished an online class with the wonderful Judith Cornell about mandala healing (which is another of my passions) So, today...I wish you all pretty girls and happy days!!

Everywhere She Flew...

I just finished this piece which is done on a 6 by 6 deep canvas...The bird was painted on 140 weight watercolor paper and then cut out and adhered to the canvas ...sticks and twigs from outside and then the nest was made out of different fibers...with words that hang from the branch...DREAM...INSPIRE...LOVE....BELIEVE...HOPE...WISDOM...WISH...MEMORIES...
FRIENDSHIP...Frosted stars that have been beaded and wired on hang from the bottom. The words on the canvas say: She left pieces of her heart in nests of her own making everywhere she flew. I had a great deal of fun doing this piece that was inspired by an artist who shares all of who she is...

THIS WAS SENT TO NINA BAGLEY!

Somerset HOME

This publication comes out once a year and has many really wonderful art filled pages of things that you can make for your home or give as a gift. I have the great privilege of being within the pages of this publication which hits news stands in August for the clocks that I make. The blue clock is made out of a paper mache box...and the angel is from a wooden clock template. Great to have...great to give...easy to make!!

NEW WORK....

BE PRESENT
Affirmation by: Patricia J. Mosca
Art work by :Patricia J. Mosca

breathe deep…
let loose...
let life in...
let freedom in...
let dreams in...
and fly
in the present day.

Today I am aware to be present. To breathe deeply and let my life today be present. Careful not to project to far to the past...careful not to project to far to the future. Today, I am aware to be present and face the sun of this day. To let the dreams of this day take me to flight. To stay present is often a difficult thing to do...we are usually in such a hurry to get to the tomorrow that we sometimes neglect the here and the now. Today, I am aware to be present...to float here in the freedom of the day...to loosen the spirits of yesterday and not project into tomorrow. Today, I am aware to be present...present in this beautiful day gifted to me. To collect my messages from within and gather them together. Today, I am aware to breathe and fly and then breathe some more..strong, deep, spiritual breaths that will allow me to experience this day to the fullest as I head toward my dreams.

Just Begin…Again

JUST BEGIN...AGAIN

The most Sacred Place dwells within our Heart
Where Dreams are born and Secrets sleep
A mystical refuge of Darkness and Light
Fear and Conquest
Adventure and Discovery
Challenge and Transformation
Our Heart speaks for our Soul
Every moment while we are alive
Listen…as the whispering beat repeats
Be…gin Be…gin Be…gin
It’s really that simple
Just Begin Again

Excitement ! Flying on the Wings of my Dreams!

I have been having a fabulous week of creativity...and being acknowledged. Most of you know that I have been submitting to magazines these last 2 years. Once you submit a piece of work for jury it usually takes 3 to 4 months to hear back from them, and then it can be up to 6 months before the item appears in a magazine. I have had the wonderful honor to be in several magazines this year and last year. Altered Couture (twice) , Art Doll Quarterly and Artful Blogging. These are all Stampington and Company Publications. I have just been notified that I will be appearing once again in Altered Couture in the August publication and in the Winter publication. I will also be in Somerset Home in the August publication. Now, today, I was notified that I will be in the November issue of Art Doll Quarterly. CAN WE SAY......WOW!?! I am so overwhelmed...I am so excited...I am so humbled...I am so honored.
The life of a stay at home artist is a very solitary one. I create every day in my studio, sometimes staying in here for 8 to 10 hours a day!! I have deadlines that I make for myself along with the custom work that I do. I do this because I know no other way to live my life. I am an artist. Honoring myself and my creativity. I give back to my community with many fund raisers, and I also do gallery work...CAN WE SAY JANE OF ALL TRADES!?!?! So submitting and then being picked to be published out of the hundreds of entries is a dream come true for me.
So for anyone out there who reads this, I want to let you know that DREAMS DO COME TRUE!
You can get to the Emerald City Dorothy! All you have to do is BELIEVE!! AND FLY ON THE WINGS OF YOUR DREAMS!

Custom Mailbox...

I was commissioned to do a custom mailbox for a client that would mount on a post by her front door...I knew that I wanted a fairly large mailbox that would hold a magazine without it having to be folded or rolled...I found this great mailbox that had a nice working surface and will accommodate a magazine. When I opened the box I was so pleasantly surprised to find a panel inside that inserted into the channels of the mailbox (the panel was burgundy on one side and blue on the other..giving the buyer a choice of colors) But, this just sung to me!! First I only had to deal with the panel while painting which was far less cumbersome than the entire mailbox...and second, although the client had asked for a floral/summery painting, (seeing as we do live in upstate NY) it gave me the opportunity to add a little whimsy for the fall and winter also (an added extra bonus of my choosing!) So here is the final piece...from the blank to the summer to the fall....Personally it looks like a great piece of art for her house!! ENJOY!
If you are looking for a custom piece for yourself or someone else...E-Mail me...we can chat!!

Bird Feeder...

Most everyone knows from my paintings that I love birds....I love the fact that they sing sweet songs and they can fly!! The grace and beauty is endless for me...watching them glide through the air with the look and feel of so little effort even when going against a strong wind they continue on their path....OH!...if we all could only learn that lesson...to glide through life with little effort and to fly...and sing our own song! This is a bird feeder that I found at a local store...pure pine...unadorned....and just singing to be painted! Come on over birdies the feeder is open!

Altered Jean Jacket

As usual it is my sister, who reaps the rewards of my altered clothing...well, except for the shoes I wear!! But, she had this jean jacket...and well...it was singing to be altered!! My sister, who loves to sit on her front porch is very friendly with a cardinal that sings to her...she in turn sings a little whistle tune back...It makes her happy....It was the inspiration for this jacket...and once I painted the bird on the back...it made me really understand that we all have a song to sing!!
This jacket was painted with acrylic paint...the scroll work is felt that I found already to place on the jacket...it is very cool and just irons on!! LOVE IT!! Hand painted antique lace around the top of the pocket. The pin on the front of the jacket was altered from odds and ends of jewelry that I had in my stash. Heat sealed and now it is
READY TO WEAR!

This piece is going off to a show in Fort Collins, Colorado....Called: The Muse Unleashed Show..
Everyone knows how much I love an art show...a challenge...So I unleashed my Muse and this is what she helped me to create! It is a difficult piece to photograph (one because you all know I am not so great at it!! and secondly, because I used Pearl Ex interference on it) This piece is going to THE CREATIVE UNDERGROUND....they have a great site for art supplies! Visit often and support the small artful shops!

REMEMBER...

I found this cobalt blue glass hand in a store and it just called for me to purchase it...So purchase I did...Once I came home I knew something more had to be done with it...My daughter's birthday is tomorrow...and as I was reflecting on her birth...her life...my life (and the fact that I have a 35 year old daughter...when in actuality I am only 40 myself...LOL...(really 56 but as I told my friend just the other day, I often feel 16...25...37!! good thing there are not a lot of mirrors around when I feel that way)...but back to the cobalt blue hand....and the birthday!! Anyhow, I recalled that my daughter had made me a tape of music and one of the songs reminded her of me...now, I don't remember who sang the song, but the refrain was: "listen here young lady...all I want is for you to be happy"...and so I altered the hand to reflect my wishes for her on her birth day! I want for her to be happy....to know that she is loved...to be free in who she is...to trust herself and her hearts messages...to dream...to fly....These are my wishes for my child...my grown woman daughter (with a child of her own) these are the wishes that my heart holds for her....All I want is for her to be happy!! Happy Birthday dear daughter of mine....Happy Birth Day!
Love,
"the mommy"
