Folk Art Polymer clay dolls...

I've been taking an on line class with Nancye Williams, learning how to make these wonderful little primitive folk art dolls....and having fun putting my own spin to them....

SOLD!

I was happy to find out that the grip tape I designed for the Skateboard Park fund raiser SOLD the very first night....After I had been there....So FUN to be part of this once again this year...

Once Again...Grip Tape Fund Raiser

This year as you can see I cut the grip tape in half making two pictures...I like the starkness of the white graphics on the black grip tape...but decided at the last moment to use a sparkling H2O to cast shadows along the edges....This was completely done with acrylic paint....LOTS OF FUN!! Will let you know how I do!

Alice in Wonderland Skinny Book page...

Here is the page I made for a skinny book Alice in Wonderland exchange....There are 35 of us
each doing a page....So this is going to be one fat skinny book! LOL We could design our page and then have copies made....but the concept of this page of the door going from large to small did not seem to render itself to being copied...as I would of had to do both sides and so many times....So I opted to hand do each one....ALL 35 of them!!!! Talk about crazy!! And then trying to find 35 old keys....I had a stash of them and luckily so did my daughter....Anyhow....I love how the page came out....I boxed them up tonight and they will be sent out tomorrow...Much earlier than the July 5th deadline! I was on a roll!!!
My inspiration:

Alice in Wonderland

The inspiration for the page came

from the quote by the door…

“Nothing is Impossible”

When one door closes another opens…

It is as simple as turning a handle…

Unlocking a door…

listening to our own heart…

believing in our own spirit…

being the real YOU!

and indeed everything is possible!

Paper dolls.....

I did these 2 paper dolls....One will be swapped out....and one is for the hostess of the swap...the theme was "Guardian Paper dolls" hosted by Kathryn....The top one is AURORA...guardian of dreams....the bottom one is SASCHA...guardian of bravery....
I am also taking an online class from Kathryn....The Hero's Journey (you can get more information about that on her site also on the side panel....It has been enlightening for me....I am doing it a bit different from others' ....you can see it here....No matter how I look at it....regardless of what is going on around me.....I am HAVING FUN!

My Page...

This is the page I did for a book that is being put together by Renee Troy as a fund raiser for
Bernie Berlin at A PLACE TO BARK....I am honored to be among the artist participating...
The border that is turquoise is where the book will be bound...The grass is torn paper...the dog was painted on watercolor paper and then cut out...the WISH was done also that way...the star is tin....
Bernie rescues animals and works off donations and grants...
I had great fun with this little painting....it is 8 by 8 on and 8 by 10 piece of watercolor paper...
It came fast and furious...but what FUN!

Mexican Art...

These are the 3 paintings I did for the show at the Mexican Restaurant to celebrate Cinco de Mayo ...May 5th... This is the order that I did them in....The first one: I WILL ALWAYS BRING YOU ROSES....traditional sugar skull done on wood with acrylic paint....The second one: PIN STRIPES was a great deal of fun...cut the skull out of tin and then painted it with acrylic paint...embellished it with jewels and bottle caps then dusted it with very fine glitter to give it a sugary appearance... the background was stenciled black on black the skull and spine were raised up about a half inch off the wood background and then a metalic hew of oil pastels was used to outline the skull....the final look of the "pin stripes' was done with a metalic paint and Pearl Ex powder.....The last one: NO EVIL....is suppose to be a play on SEE..SPEAK... HEAR no evil in the form of a slot machine game....
Now, maybe I can get back to doing my regular stuff!! LOL....But what FUN I did have!

Gallery Show...

Here are 2 of the 3 paintings I did for the SMALL SHOW....which is a gallery show for pieces no bigger than 12 by 12....These 2 are 9 by 12....mixed media with embellishments! Both the bird and the butterfly were painted on 140 weight watercolor paper and then cut out and placed on wrapped canvas board...then 3-D to a piece of wrapped wood that had been textured with acrylic paint....then embellished....I have been working with the 3-D look and my art for the past several years and really like it...What the pictures don't reveal is that both the bird and the butterfly have been treated with Pearl Ex pigments that give them a very iridescent look... And of course anyone who knows me ...knows I like things that represent flight.....I am working now on a series of words that I am doing in a similar way....The show opens May 24th....at THE HIGH FALLS GALLERY in Rochester, NY....

Random Acts Of Kindness (RAK)

These are two mixed media paintings that I did for 2 sisters who send the most amazing daily messages to my IN box!! I wanted to express to them how much they mean to me! Thank You Melody and Kathy of the BRAVE GIRLS CLUB! You can sign up for the news letter by going to:
http://www.bravegirlsclub.com And signing up for the Daily Truth.
Each of the sayings came from something they said separately on their bio page. Each painting was done on a 8 by 10 flat canvas with a 5 by 7 canvas placed on top....the bird was painted with acrylic and H2O paint....torn paper...and ribbon....glass heart and metal heart....the bird was cut out of 120 stock water color paper and then 3-D on the smaller canvas over lapping onto the bigger on...the background is handmade paper.

A Sampling of Embellished Gloves...

I embellished gloves for all the lovely ladies in my family....from 6 years old to 86 years old!!
But of course I neglected to photograph them!! LOL
These are 2 pairs of gloves that were commissioned once the others wore their gloves!!
The are needle felted flowers and leaves...the roses were felted and then glued and rolled...
and of course the glitter was added and beading....
I STILL have to make myself a pair!!
But what fun they are to make!! And the possibilities are endless!!
