FUNd raiser chair....

This is the final product completed of the chair I did for a fund raiser in my community.....The title of this chair... NOTHING IS SIMPLY BLACK AND WHITE! Although the humidity made it almost impossible to work on it because of the drying time....I completed it FINALLY 2 days before the deadline!! LOL....Of course I didn't start working on it till a month or more after I got the chair.....The wood was sanded...primed...the chair was then assembled...painted with an outdoor paint....designed....painted some more....sealed....sealed...and sealed some more....and then waxed.....very shiny! I have to say that I love the message of this chair....
Sit back....relax....believe and dream....because nothing is simply black and white!!
Enjoy!

New Logo

I have had the honor of working on a logo for Robin whom I met at a retreat about 5 years ago (WOW...has the time gotten by me...5 years ago!!) Robin is a writer and gentle soul who is going to be hosting retreats....You can follow Robin and learn more about her at: Laugh and Dream
With all that is going on in my life...this was a happy distraction....working on it late at night after returning home....
It was a reminder to myself to continue to laugh, even when I feel like crying....and to continue to dream....Life may not always be fair....but IT IS GOOD!
And Art heals!

Sugar Sweet Ride

This picture is of grip tape for the top of a skate board....A local skateboard shop is auctioning them off and it gave me the opportunity to step a little outside of what I normally do.....So I did this Mexican Sugar Skull....painting it in acrylics and then putting clear sugary glitter all over it to make it look similar to the real thing.....It was difficult to paint on this tape as it is very much like rough sandpaper....But FUN none the less...

Toy Box

My very dear friend's daughter is having a baby....and she is doing it OLD SCHOOL style...and will be SURPRISED upon the birth as to if it is a girl or a boy....The baby shower was today, and I wanted to bless this family with a heirloom for the baby....So I decided on a toy box...a useful gift that will last for years and can be passed on to another generation.....When the baby is born I will put the name and date of the birth on the inside of the cover where there is written....
PLAY NICE....SHARE....HAVE FUN....

Random Acts of Kindness...

A call went out from a group that I am on for Angel Paper Dolls to donate to people in need of a little TLC.....So this is the paper doll I made...She is made from 140 wt water color paper which I doubled and glued together....Antique lace was added to her dress...along with jewels ...Her wings are stationary, but her arms are hinged and move....She can hang freely as she is painted on both sides.....The message that I get when seeing this angel is to hand her your heart when you are in need or hurt and she will gently hold it in your hands to help you heal.....
I am honored to be part of this project....Off she went to the hostess in Canada today!

mandala painting...

I was asked by an online friend to make a mandala for her...she like all of us, struggles with the balance of our lives....This little painting is what appeared to me for her....and the message it brings reminds us and I hope her to always look to the sun for warmth for our self...and to listen closely to the song in her heart....I know I need to be reminded of this...even on a good day!

Another ornament...

It is difficult to take a picture of a ROUND ornament...Especially without a tree to hand it on!! LOL....This ornament was a pleasure to work on as I tried a different technique....I painted the outside of the ornament rather than the inside to get the over all color...then sealed...then repainted...then sealed...layer upon layer with 4 different colors....the clay flowers ...names and
date were placed on it too...and then of course...those love birds just HAD to go on....along with a heart charm....

Birthday Memory Box...

I love painting on wood....I am not sure why...but I love the feel of it as I work on it and I love the surface of it!! This memory box was ordered for a sister from a sister!! To commemorate her birthday (I won't say what age she is!!) Inside there is a note that reads:
Let the garden of your life...enchant you with brighter colors...softer air...and a fragrance of love now and forever...
This box just makes me happy to look at!! Filled with love and promise!!

Ornaments....

Painting glass ornaments was a bit of a challenge for me....as I like solid color!! So I coated the inside of the glass ornaments with paint to give me the effect that I needed to be inspired!! Although it was difficult to paint on the glass I had a lot of fun doing these whimsical one of a kind ornaments for an after Christmas celebration!!
Step outside your comfort zone and try something NEW today....It just might make you smile!!

Color that Tote!!!

I have been commissioned to make a tote for a little girl as a gift....Now, we all know that I do not sew and usually get my sister to help me with this type of projects....But while shopping I found this wonderful HOT PINK tote bag..(perfect for the little girl in all of us!) and I brought it home and began to design a coloring page ....Not only will this little girl get a tote to carry her shoes to school in...custom designed JUST FOR HER!! but she will get to make it her own by using fabric pens to color it in!! NOW JUST HOW FUN IS THAT!!!! I had great fun with this tote adding a little bling embellishment to the top ...I am now dreaming of other designs for kids and of course adults alike!! Fun for anyone from 2 to 92!! LOL
